Castle Vow Renewal

Carly and Nick asked me to officiate a wedding vow renewal ceremony that was to be held at the beautiful Castillo de Lilo. They had their elementary school age children with them and wanted their son and daughter to witness the promises Mom & Dad continue to make to love and honor one another. I cherish this idea so I wrote the ceremony script in a way that the kids could understand and could keep their short attention spans. Carly and Nick brought some friends from home with them to share in the vacation.

We all watched the sun go down on the rooftop of the castle with cocktails. Afterwards, we got a tour of the castle with stories and artifacts, led by the owner, Erika. Then, Nick, Carly, the kids and I, came together on a private, secluded but very romantic, balcony, for the marriage ceremony. I had the four of them hold hands as I told the love story between Nick and Carly. They exchanged vows once again and read love letters to each other. It was sweet and meaningful but just short enough to keep them engaged. There were tears and lots of giggles. Then the family sat down to dine on the delicious food made by Chef Marco. It was a perfect stormy night, complete with lighting and thunder that lit up the sky. The castle is the highest point in the area of Playa Potrero, with magnificent views. While the family ate dinner, I played their favorite songs on my speaker system. The family enjoyed dancing and even a little karaoke before ending the special evening. I snapped a selfie before I left. I'll never forget this sweet family.
